Someone commissioned me to draw Kid Flash and Robin kisses! Guys, this is literally the best commission I could ever get, because gratuitous KF/Robin smooches are my favorite thing to draw. 

(I hope I haven’t destroyed your retinas with this gratuitously pink and purple color scheme. I felt like getting a little shoujo.)

OKAY I GUESS I’M JUST GONNA TALK ABOUT THESE TWO AND WHY I LOVE THEM SO MUCH FOR A SECOND SO BEAR WITH ME CAUSE I HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF FEELINGS

One of the (many many) reasons I love Dick and Wally’s relationship so much is because of how much they really compliment each other, how much they make each other better. Neither of them needs to be “fixed” by the other, but they’re really, really good for each other. They’re better together than they are apart.

They know each other well enough that they can keep each other in line (Dick with Wally’s flirting, Wally with Dick’s insensitive jokes) without bringing each other down or grounding each other.

Dick calls on Wally for his scientific knowledge multiple times when plenty of other people seem perfectly happy to see him as nothing more than the guy who cracks cheesy jokes and whose mouth is occasionally faster than his brain.

Wally trusts Dick enough that he was willing to die by Dick’s side in an alien mothership, and he believes in Dick’s leadership even when Dick doesn’t.

Dick trusts Wally enough to risk his secret identity, enough to go behind Bruce’s back, enough to tell him about his family and his history and everything, the most painful thing that ever happened to him, and Wally knows exactly how much that means to Dick. And it means a lot to Wally, too — enough that Wally remembered the little details, that he knew who Jack Haly was without Dick having to mention the circus at all. Enough that just remembering how much Dick trusts him was enough to pull Wally out of mind control.

And this scene is absolutely heartbreaking and says so much about how much they care about each other. Wally desperately wanted his best friend to come to him when he needed someone who understood what he was going through, but Dick didn’t… because Wally was the one person whose disapproval Dick knew he couldn’t handle.

I JUST LOVE THEM A WHOLE LOT, YOU GUYS.
